In my last fashion article I went through the different type of body shape.
Now that you can determined your body type, it’s time to go little deeper for each body type and understand what will flat your body and what will not flat your body!
Let’s start by the PEAR body figure which is the most common figure proportion for women. A pear shaped body is recognise by curvy hips, thick tights, small bust, narrow shoulders and defined waist. So even if you are skinny, tall, short, heavy and the widest part of your body is below your waits, around your hips. You still have pear shaped body.
Your fashion goal is to play with your proportion by drawing the eye to your upper body and takes the focus off your bottom part. Fill up your upper body for balance to elongate your figure so that you look less bottom – heavy.
There’s some simple think that you can do to transform your body by using the right clothing. Three rules that you should always follow as a pear shaped figure are:
- Slimming your hips
- Drawing your attention to your upper body
- Wearing the right accessories
The easiest way to slim your hips is to stick to dark colours with your pants and skirts like brown, black, grey, dark blue, navy or even green olive. Now that you have the right colour for your bottom part it’s time to pick the right shape of pant and skirts.
Look for straight leg or flared pants to create a bottom half with full volume all the way down. To show off your lovely curves without making them looking baggy and unshapely, pick skirts that start just above your hips and are no shorter than just above the knee. Tulip – skirt will look fabulous on you as well! Avoid short, glitzy pants and belts, tight skirts because they’re drawing attention on those problematic area.
Pear shaped figure can look amazing in dresses as long as the dress draw all the attention to the top half of the body by creating a tight waistline and covering up the midsection. Dresses can be the perfect opportunity for you to show off your beautiful busts, back and arms. Come on girl! Don’t be shy:-). Dresses that will look amazing on you are strapless dresses, a-line dresses, halter neck dresses. Look for dresses who will slim your curves beautifully without adding bulk to your shape.
As I said earlier, your upper body is the main focus when it’s come to rebalancing a pear shape body. So choose your top carefully by looking for bold designs and colours. Make sure that the top has the right style and shape, avoid baggy top and anything that end at your bum because these draw the eye to your larger middle section. If you want to emphasise your well – defined waist look for tops who are finishing at the top of your hips.
Another way to draw the eye to your upper body is to use accessories like necklace, earrings, scarves,…..Example, chandelier style or dangle earrings, scarves tied on the side or even a simple bright necklace can make a huge difference. Adding one of his three to your outfit will highlight your upper body by making your bust look fuller. The only rule that comes with this accessories is to wear only one of them at the time!
And finally my last suggestion will be to wear high heel to elongate your legs and make your hips looks more proportional. For those who know me, they can tell you that heels are my best friends! I swear about high heel:-)!
For me there’s nothing that can make me feel more sexier, more elegant and more confident then a nice pair of high heels.
Like Marilyn Monroe said: “Give a girl the right shoes and she can conquer the world”.
So maybe we should all wear high heel more often:-)!
